I'm not too sure what to write about but I felt like writing nevertheless.  More and more CPs are starting their first weeks of the program and by the sounds of things it seems to be going well.  Lots of fun and lots of work which to me sounds perfect.
Yesterday, I randomly was invited to go to a Red Sox game.  We lost, there were 4 rain delays, and the game got called in the bottom of the 8th, but it was a blast : ] Today I went down to BSU and got my degree finally.  I was too impatient to wait for them to send it in the mail in July.  Originally they said they'd send them out in June, those liars!
Anyways, I feel like sharing random character facts.  I don't know why but why not? If something's interesting to me, perhaps it'd be interesting to someone else. Therefore, today's random facts are featuring the one and only Cinderella.

  • In the original Grimm story, the step sister's were not ugly, just mean
  • Cinderella was a nickname
  • There's no mention of mice or a fairy Godmother in the original story, just lots of birds
  • Cinderella is a interactive geometric tool ... interesting
  • Her castle is the most photographed building in the world
  • There is 3.37 million gallons of water in the moat
  • Her last name was Tremaine
  • During the song "Sing Sweet Nightingale", three of the bubbles are Mickey heads
  • 90% of the movie was done in live-action model before animation
  • When her raggedy dress transforms into her ball gown was supposedly Walt Disney's favorite piece of animation
and possibly the biggest mistake every one makes, and my giant pet peeve ... HER DRESS IS WHITE! NOT BLUE!!!

I've decided that there are way too many birthdays within the month of June.  Today is one of my roomie's birthday, so happy birthday Maci!!

Lightning McQueen from Cars will be joining a stunt show in WDW, he's replacing Herbie, sorry Herbie.
Rapunzel is becoming an official Disney Princess. Didn't know she wasn't already. There's going to be a ceremony or something on October 2nd, oo lala.
You can start booking the health and wellness/ princess rooms now.
You can win a WDW vacation for 7 days, 6 nights.  All the information about it can be found here
Regis Philbin is going to be honored as a Disney Legend... that just makes me giggle

Blogger lately for me hasn't been working very well which is kinda convenient since I haven't had too much to talk about.  Still counting down the days til I can finally leave for Florida. My roommate just got back from being in Disney and she uploaded pictures which made me jealous.  My sister flew in for the weekend so that's been interesting having her here.  Yesterday was my mother's retirement lunch which lasted for 5 hours, who knew teachers and nurses could drink so much? My hair is getting lighter slowly but surely, it looks strawberry-blondish now.  Christopher's roommates are strongly for living in Chattham which is sad, means we won't be in the same building : ( but that's life. And speaking of Chris ... TODAY IS HIS 22ND BIRTHDAY!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTOPHER!!!! <3

Chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff

This is Winnie the Pooh's birthday month! I haven't been able to find the day yet but it was this month in 1921 that Pooh was created, so happy birthday Pooh!

The original: Winnie the Pooh pictured in 1928 with his first owner, Christopher Robin Pooh and Christopher Robin : ]

Pooh Facts!

  • Pooh was an 18in-high Alpha Farnell teddy bear bought from Harrods for Christopher Robin on his first birthday. He cost 10/6d and had a mechanism inside him that meant he could growl.
  • At first he was called Mr Edward Bear, after the proper form of Teddy. He was renamed after a real bear called Winnie at London Zoo.
  • ‘Winnie’ was short for ‘Winnipeg’
  • n the ‘sport’ of Poohsticks, competitors drop sticks into a stream from a bridge and then wait to see whose stick will float across the finish line first. This game was played for real by Christopher Robin.
  • A.A. Milne, Christopher Robin and the illustrator E.H. Shepard all came to resent Winnie the Pooh
  • Pooh is patron saint of teddy bears.
  • Since the 1970s, Pooh Bear has been voiced by three actors: Sterling Holloway, Hal Smith and Jim Cummings.
Pooh rocks, all I have to say.

TWO MONTHS! AHHHHHH!!!!

I'm an interesting version of a "girly-girl".  My favorite color is pink, I love dresses and looking nice, I'm pretty old fashioned when it comes to romance but I don't like shopping, I rarely buy make-up, I rarely wear heels, I spend all day in sweats, and my hair is always in a ponytail because it's easy and out of the way.  So my mom basically forced me to go shopping with her today because in her eyes, I don't have enough clothes, especially Disney clothes.  You should look in my closet, I have more than enough clothes thank you very much.  So I got a few new shirts and shorts and she made me buy a dress that the sales girl said I looked precious in.  This is why my sister should move back to this state, she enjoys the girly girl things. This is my rant of the day.

Disney Parks are raising their tickets prices starting Sunday.  It's only a few dollars more but in the grand scheme of things, it adds up.  Disneyland will be raising it a lot compared to Disney World.

There's a new laser show coming to Disney California Adventure starting next Friday.  Obviously this means someone has to go and tell me all about it so I can live vicariously through them ... just saying.

The Cars franchise is passing the Toy Story franchise. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with this.  Cars 2 hasn't even come out yet! Come on people, go out and buy tons of Toy Story memorabilia, right now, go.

The writer for the show Lost is now writing a sci-fi show for Disney but won't tell any of the details of the show.  Disney and sci-fi I never really thought I'd hear in the same sentence again. Not since that show with Alexz Johnson and Erik Von Detten ... now I can't even remember the name of it... So Weird? something like that.

Someone decided to take the Disney Princesses and turn them into Super Heroes.  The only problem I have with this is that they show Esmerelda, Mulan, and Meg who are not Princesses and they don't show Cinderella who is. http://www.ology.com/technology/picture-disney-princesses-superheroines

Selena Gomez is in the hospital for reasons unknown, sad.

AND TWO MONTHS FROM NOW I'LL BE IN DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!! crazy

Happy Birthday Donald Duck

In two months from today I shall be on a plane to Disney, holy moly.  It seems so soon but at the same time not nearly soon enough. I can't wait to get out of here!!!!!!!!!

The Lone Ranger is set to release in December 2012
The Primeval Whirl will be closed until at least mid September.  It was set to reopen this month but yet again got pushed back to further in investigation of the death of Russell Roscoe who I mentioned was injured while working on the ride.
California Adventure closed down the Tortilla Factory, I'm not sure this is really a loss ...
Disney Interactive's new game Disney Universe is a new multi-player game that goes through different Disney worlds and you can play as a Disney character.  Plays like a lego game, sounds like Kingdom Hearts, looks like this: Disney Universe Monsters Inc 2
Disney is opening new stores, and not the interactive stores that have been in the news lately, these stores will be dedicated to babies.  Disney for the next generation? I guess I can get behind this.

And last but not least, Happy Birthday Donald ... I still don't like you though

New Summer Layout, OOOh, AAAh

The Roommate Finder thingy on the DCP website was activated yesterday for those doing the Fall session. So it is official, me and Becky are roomies, woot! Can not wait to meet her in person!

On a much sadder note, Disney is laying off over 200 people this week or more specifically 5% of employees world wide.  Supposedly it has to do with the decline of DVD sales or something. Either way, it's unfortunate.

Maurice's workshop is going to be added to the Beauty and the Beast's part of Fantasyland.  The magic mirror is involved to that leads from the workshop to the library? something like that. The details weren't very specific but that's where Belle shall be if you're looking for her.

Rafael Nadal, after winning his 6th French Open, went to celebrate at Disneyland Paris, good choice.

And a nice big shout out to my friend John who is celebrating his 22nd birthday today! : ]

"Quality time with your kids: You know what? Quit bugging 'em. Leave 'em alone. They like it! "

This is for all you xbox gamers out there. Go buy a kinect because there's a new Disney game headed our way. It's called Kinect Disneyland Adventures, basically you get to explore a virtual Disneyland from home and even go on certain rides, which is kinda cool.

I wasn't aware, but Saturday was Gay Day at DW, which is kind of epic.  Too bad a bunch of people went out and protested it.  Seriously world, same sex couples are not hurting anyone, let them live their lives.  You don't see them out protesting against straight people.

There are open casting calls for the new Oz movie on the 11th. I have no idea where though.  They give an address but it doesn't say the state.  So if anyone wants to be an extra, go to 1999 Centerpoint Parkway in Pontiac between 10-4, good luck.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is going to be on 3D blu ray, August 30th.  Do people actually own 3D blu ray players?

Festival Disney 2012 dates are out.  The competitions will take place on select weekends between March 9- May 5 and June 1&2.  Yay for helping keeping the music programs alive!

Donald Duck's 77th birthday is on Thursday ... woo

And I'm sure everyone knows about the deaths of Betty Taylor and Wally Boag by now.  Disney released a bunch of pictures from when they performed so here's a few.

   (That's Julie Andrews!)

Delta Airlines is having a contest, and the winner of this contest gets to bring three guests to share a night in Cinderella's Castle!! Here's what they're giving away:

  • Two-nights in a Disney Deluxe Resort Hotel
  • Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper Option

To enter the contest go here before August 15th ... or don't so my chances of winning increase : ]

There's a rumor that Tim Burton might be directing POTC 5, that'd be a twist for sure.
The Phineas and Ferb play-n-greet opens on Sunday, finally.  Tis only half a month late... NBD

Tis all I got.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Ok I've totally been neglecting this but I'm back.  The DCP sent out emails this week reminding us about the Disney look.  When I first read the heading, I thought they were responding to my email I wrote ... oh 3 months ago; but no, it was just your generic "don't forget the rules" type of thing. Also, class registration's been opened and classes have been filling up fast.  The most popular by far is Heritage which is all about Disney's Heritage (der), I think this is already full to be honest.  I believe only one of my roommates is going to be taking classes. I considered it but then I thought about it and well, the classes available wouldn't help me further a career in Psych and it'll take up time during the week where I could be making $$$.
Disney released a new line of vinyl dolls called Pop.  I don't really understand the vinylmation thing, it's just not for me but these are kinda cute actually.

Star Tours is coming to Disneyland on Friday, woot
A new parade started last week in Disneyland as well, "Mickey's Soundsational Parade" If you want to waste 15 minutes, go watch the video of the premiere.

Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland Paris got a make-over.  It's now a new shade of pink and blue and has more gold, sounds pretty.
This isn't Disney related but yesterday, Mass was in a state of emergency as 8 counties were under tornado watch.  Luckily it skipped my town and all we had was a pretty bad storm that was on and off all day but it was awesome.  I love thunder storms.  So to those that were hurt and to everyone in Springfield where the tornado actually touched down, hope you're ok and safe.

It's still pretty early so there aren't too many things to share yet.  Stay tuned.
